EdenQuest: A serious games startup

EdenQuest is a company specialized since 2016 in the digital support of transitions and evolutions. It aims to overcome the weaknesses of learning platforms and other Serious Games, by restoring the desire to learn through techniques of video games in terms of emotion and attractiveness.

Their first game called Guild'Up SEA was used by several large companies such as Orange, SFR, BNP Paribas or L'Oréal, bringing together more than 50,000 players on mobile and browser. In principle, it is an empty shell with a theme, allowing the customer to personalize the game with his own training (or just let himself be guided). In 2019, they launched the Guild'Up SPACE project, and it was during the summer of 2020 that the team changed almost entirely, and I started my internship.

With the COVID-19, EdenQuest went entirely to remote work. All of my work has been done remotely. For me, the outcome is positive, but I wish I had a development team rather than working solo on the whole game (besides the web API).

[05/05/2022] Since the end of 2021, Guild'Up SPACE has been completed, tested, but the associated administration platform has not yet passed all tests. Without going into details, the company has other priorities today that are no longer around Unity.
I am therefore looking for a new project to get involved in as of June 1, 2022.

Internship (6 months)

I took over the Guild'Up SPACE project in a team of two people. I was in charge of Unity, and my colleague of the web. We have implemented new features, stabilized the existing ones and improved the game experience.

I also tried to take initiatives to allow the project to evolve and the team to be efficient. This was done by organizing the git, integrating Jenkins, or cleaning and restructuring the project.

Fixed-term contract (6+8 months)

During the first contract, the game was supposed to be released within a month. We spent a lot of time performing test sessions, split by the integration of small features and user experience improvements. For instance: adding cinematics, readapting screens for all platforms, an alternative mode of a multiplayer mini-game in single player mode,...

As the end of the year approached, I also spent a month making a trailer using the Unity engine to prepare the game for sale. I could have used Cinemachine, but using the Unity timeline seemed to give me more control, and take less time than going through code. Several green backgrounds and sound effects were also integrated by my company.
